Orthotics are appliances that are used to improve the function, alignment and mobility of a particular area of the body. These include splints, ankle-foot-orthoses (AFOs), braces or insoles. The NICE guidelines recommend that patients with a neurological condition should be considered for an orthotic assessment as early as possible to promote optimal independence and function.
